Elbow pain is one of the most common padel complaints, and the wrong racket makes it worse. Here's what to look for, and the rackets we'd try first.

The short answer

Choose a soft core, low balance (weight towards the handle) and a light racket, around 340 to 355 g. Avoid hard carbon faces and head-heavy diamonds. A racket helps, but it's not treatment: if pain lasts, see a doctor or physiotherapist and check your technique with a coach.

What makes a racket arm-friendly

  • Soft core: absorbs more of the impact before it reaches your arm.
  • Low balance: less leverage on the elbow with every swing.
  • Lighter weight: less effort to swing and stop.
  • Round shape: a central sweet spot means fewer jarring mishits.
  • A fresh overgrip and the right grip size: a grip that's too thin makes you squeeze harder.

Questions

Can a padel racket cause tennis elbow?

It can contribute. Hard, head-heavy rackets transmit more shock, especially with late or off-centre hits. Technique and how much you play matter too.

Should I stop playing?

Rest and see a professional if the pain persists. A softer racket can help you return, but it isn't a cure.
