Best padel rackets for intermediate players (2026)

You hit the sweet spot most of the time, you play matches every week, and your beginner racket feels flat on the smash. Time to step up, but not too far.

The short answer

Most intermediates do best with a teardrop or a carbon-faced round racket with medium balance. The Babolat Counter Veron is the easiest step up; the Head Coello Vibe gets you a teardrop for less. Skip high-balance diamonds for now: they add power you can't control yet.

Good

  • Real power without punishing mishits
  • All-court racket: defends and attacks
  • Large, consistent sweet spot for its class

Less good

  • Pro-line price
  • More than a beginner needs

Best for: fast improvers who'll grow into an all-round pro-line racket.

Avoid if: you're in your first year or have elbow pain: the firmer feel and smaller sweet spot punish mishits.

What changes at intermediate level

Shape: teardrop or carbon round

A teardrop moves the sweet spot slightly up the face, adding power on overheads while staying forgiving. If you love control, a round racket with a carbon face gives you more pop without changing the feel.

Core: medium

A slightly firmer core rewards your faster swing with more speed off the face. Stay soft if you have elbow or wrist pain.

Your side of the court matters

Left-side players who finish points often want more power; right-side players who build points usually want control.

Questions

How do I know I'm intermediate?

You rally comfortably off the back glass, play matches weekly, and have started using the bandeja or vibora.

Should I buy a diamond racket?

Not yet for most players. Diamonds suit fast, clean swingers; a teardrop gives you more power with far fewer mishits.
